Just in case you were wondering what kind of "understanding" comes along with language acquisition...




I now know just how to read 'Badtzmaru' (the name of that plucky little character). Maru is Japanese for "circle" and also representative of (pin-pon!) a correct answer. Batsu means "cross" or "X" and is representative of... you guessed it... an INCORRECT answer. So Badtzmaru is a cute little oxymoron of a name.

Huttah for learning things you never knew before but will never ever find useful. Today in class we learned how to say "disco ball" in Japanese. Katakana, of course. Mira- bo-ru. I'm frightened by just how much Engrish I can use on a daily basis and still be understood by the natives. Freaky.

I'm also really curious WHY that graphic of Badtzmaru has the Suicide Girls logo on it. And, um, if you don't know what Suicide Girls is, I recommend you don't browse the site unless you're comfortable with potentially NSFW material. How do I know? I went there once after I heard the site name in some Third Eye Blind lyrics. Then I discovered that I know one of the girls from UofO and I... didn't really feel like finding out more.
